A Legacy of Innovation in Cooling Systems

Founded in 1978, United Metal Products® (UMP®) has built its reputation on a foundation of technical excellence and industry heritage. The company’s origins trace back to John Goettl, a pioneering figure in the commercial advancement of evaporative cooling systems in the 1930s. His early innovations laid the groundwork for technologies that would redefine climate control across the American Southwest and beyond.

What began as a small, regionally focused HVAC manufacturer has grown into one of the nation’s leading providers of energy-efficient cooling solutions. Today, UMP® is widely recognized for its depth of expertise in evaporative and hybrid cooling technologies, particularly in applications where water efficiency, thermal performance, and system reliability are critical—such as hyperscale data centers, industrial facilities, and large commercial campuses.

With nearly five decades of experience—and a lineage tied to the early history of climate engineering—United Metal Products® continues to lead through innovation. Our focus remains clear: to deliver high-performing, sustainable HVAC systems that meet the complex demands of modern infrastructure, both today and for generations to come.
